Senior IT System Administrator

We are looking for an experienced IT professional to join our team of senior engineers, to provide technical support of the school’s infrastructure. You will form part of a team of 12 colleagues, and you will deal with technical support of networking, servers, O365, active directory services and other IT network services.

The System Administrator is responsible for providing a broad variety of IT related technical support and project work, including liaising with suppliers and supporting 1st/2nd line colleagues.

This is a full-time position (35 hours per week).

While this role will initially be based at Central Services (Voorburg), the successful candidate may be required to work at another campus in the future.

Essential criteria:

  • Good experience in maintaining data center based technologies – Servers, SAN, including VMware and Hyper-V, network switching and routing; 

  • Good knowledge of management and configuration of MS Active Directory; 

  • Experience with using of enterprise level updates and patching;

  • Knowledge and understanding of SSL certificates management;

  • Proven experience of managing Office 365 environment, including Exchange online;

  • Proven experience of MS System Centre Configuration Manager;

  • Good knowledge of networking and firewalls, to at least CCNA level. Experience in working with network market leading vendors like Aruba, Cisco, Fortinet or similar;

  • Understanding and practical experience of managing DHCP and DNS servers;

  • Experience in working with Microsoft Azure environment, both IaaS and SaaS;

  • Experience with enterprise level WiFi such as Unifi and Meraki;

  • Experience with VoIP telephony;

  • PowerShell scripting.

Desirable criteria:

  • Management of Microsoft SharePoint;

  • Experience with Linux OS;

  • Experience working with Fortinet networking devices, like Fortigate;

  • Hardware maintenance such as Dell or HPE servers, UPS;

  • Rack and patch panel maintenance;

  • Security experience such as Comptia Security+ , Cisco CCST or CISSP.

The BSN requires a person with the following personal characteristics:

  • Fluent knowledge of English (written and spoken), Dutch is not required. CVs and cover letters should be written in English;

  • Enthusiastic, intelligent, flexible and a good team player, but also able to work autonomously;

  • Flexible approach to working methods and conditions;

  • Good customer service skills and attitude;

  • Attention to detail and competent at completing assigned tasks;

  • Behave professionally at all times and maintain a strong sense for confidentiality of information;

  • Prioritisation and ability to work on own initiative.

What we offer:

  • The initial contract will be for two years, renewable after a successful review;

  • Salary indication €4163,11 - €5665,40 gross per month, depending on experience + 9% holiday allowance;

  • 35-hour work week.

  • Hybrid work is a possibility.

  • 33.5 days of holiday per year.

  • Please note that the BSN does not pay travel allowance to and from work.
