Teacher of Physical Education (PE) - Maternity Cover

Full-time · Junior and Senior School Leidschenveen (locally recruited from within The Netherlands*)

The British School in the Netherlands (BSN) is seeking a full-time Teacher of Physical Education (PE) to join the dynamic PE department at the Leidschenveen campus in The Hague. This role spans both our Junior and Senior schools. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of the school’s vision and values and will play a key role in the extra-curricular programme.

This role is a temporary maternity cover from 29 April 2025 to 17 October 2025.

The Role

The PE department aims to inspire an intrinsic love of sport and physical activity by delivering engaging and challenging lessons that help students develop the skills and knowledge needed to participate in sport. We use sport and physical activity as a means to build positive character traits, supporting the holistic development of our students and equipping them with the resilience and skills needed to overcome future challenges.

Our on-site facilities are excellent and include:

  • Access to both grass and 4G pitches.

You will join a friendly and forward-thinking team of teachers who are committed to delivering high-quality PE lessons and programmes.

The Candidate

We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and QTS (with Physical Education specialisation).

  • A minimum of 2 years’ full-time teaching experience in the UK National Curriculum.

  • The ability to create engaging and challenging lessons.

  • A willingness to teach across all Key Stages and adapt teaching style and practices to meet the needs of all learners.

  • A commitment to contributing to a busy extra-curricular sports programme.

The following experience would be advantageous:

  • Teaching in Foundation Stage (FS), Key Stage 1 (KS1), and Key Stage 2 (KS2) and/or Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).

  • Teaching GCSE PE.

  • Teaching IB Sport & Health Science.
