The British School in The Netherlands is seeking a skilled practitioner to join our experienced team of ten as part of a maternity cover starting 1 March 2026 until 9 July 2026.

The Role:

The department, led by a Head of Department and deputy, follows the UK Mathematics National Curriculum at Key Stage 3, progressing to GCSEs at Key Stage 4. In the Sixth Form, students can choose A-Levels or IB Maths, both popular pathways.

Our team is high-performing, supportive, and committed to consistent, high-quality teaching across all Key Stages. With many students coming from scientific and engineering backgrounds, Mathematics is seen as essential for university progression. The department also contributes to the school’s co-curricular programme, and we expect colleagues to play an active role.

This maternity cover position requires excellent teaching, clear communication, and strong subject knowledge. As an inclusive school, you will teach across the full ability range and demonstrate qualities such as warmth, patience, empathy, humility and resilience.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Full qualification as a Maths teacher with strong classroom practice and understanding of the British system (international experience desirable);

  • Commitment to co-curricular involvement;

  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm for Maths in and beyond lessons;

  • Commitment to safeguarding, student welfare, equality and diversity.
