The British School in the Netherlands (BSN) is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join our inclusive and supportive learning community at our Senior School Voorschoten campus in The Hague.

Our goal at the BSN is to provide a secure, happy, and stimulating learning environment where all students are supported to achieve their full potential. We are proud of our high-quality Additional Educational Needs (AEN) provision, which offers tailored support to ensure that every student can access the curriculum effectively and meaningfully.

These LSA roles involve direct support for students with a range of additional needs, including neurodiversity, language and literacy difficulties, and social communication challenges. Support is provided both within the classroom and through targeted withdrawal sessions, in close partnership with classroom teachers and the AEN team.

The School

The British School in the Netherlands is arranged into four separate campuses. The Senior School Voorschoten is a large, modern and very well-equipped campus, which serves international students as well as local students from the surrounding area. The campus is situated between the Hague and Leiden, with excellent public transport, motorway and bicycle connections (10 minutes by train to the centre of the Hague).

The Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience of successfully supporting students with language learning and literacy needs, as well as social, communication & interaction needs;

  • Excellent, clear levels of spoken and written English; good communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with a variety of audiences;

  • An ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as being able to contribute as part of a large team; you'll be keen to get involved with extra-curricular activities and the school’s wider community;

  • Strong planning, organisation, and record-keeping skills; experience with a range of ICT applications, such as Outlook and Excel;

  • A flexible approach to work, a good sense of humour and positive response to change;

  • A good knowledge of the British National Curriculum;

  • Experience working with children and young people aged 11-18.
