Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL) is looking for a full time Head of German. The core purpose of this role is to provide academic leadership and support of the subject area within the school. The HoD is a champion for the subject and responsible for high quality delivery of teaching and exemplary learning, leading to full accountability for learning outcomes. 

In the Modern Foreign Languages department, all students can learn Dutch, French, German and Spanish. The Modern Foreign Languages department is lively and collaborative and the students we teach are motivated and ambitious. Excellent professional development opportunities are available, and participation is encouraged. We support a range of other languages within the faculty for students wishing to sit qualifications in other languages. All staff and learners are issued with devices as a part of the school’s 1:1 initiative. 

The role will initially be based at Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL) and may require the candidate to work in another campus in the future.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have strong curriculum knowledge and a successful track record in teaching German up to post-16 level. Experience and knowledge of teaching German as part of the English National Curriculum (KS3 and GCSE) and also within the IBDP framework will be seen as an advantage. You will be an excellent classroom practitioner but also be able to lead effectively, and design and implement outstanding curriculums in the subject areas.  A willingness to fully subscribe to our school mission, Academic Excellence, Breadth of Experience and Character & Community (ABC) is fundamental to our appointment to this post.

The Role:

German is taught in mixed ability classes from Year 7, along with French, Spanish and Dutch. Moving into Year 8, students choose two from French, Spanish and German, to continue their studies in.

Students can select German at GCSE level and follow the Pearson course.  In the last two years of school, German is available to study as part of the IBDP framework as either a Language A or B option.

The salary range for this position is 4516,15 - 6145,86 gross EUR monthly, depending on experience. Additionally the candidate will receive a monthly responsibility allowance. All figures shown are including the 9% holiday allowance.
