You will  develop and deliver our Native Speaker programme in Year 7 where students consolidate their native language in a separate programme. You help develop contemporary lesson materials in the foreign language. You give instructions and assess pupil’s oral work whilst they work in pairs or in small groups. You promote and improve the cultural awareness of the target language country amongst students and staff.  In future years native speaker students follow the extra-curricular language classes in Years 8 and 9  which you will develop and deliver also. In doing this all you liaise continuously with the teacher and you record and communicate about student progress and their learning targets. You attend and contribute if necessary to meetings about students.

Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL) is the newest campus of the BSN. The school opens in September 2018 with its first cohort of Year 7 students, arranged into two form groups. Building work continues for a while and classes will be taught in a mixture of modern temporary classrooms placed on site, as well as sharing specialist facilities, such as Science labs, Food Technology rooms with the Junior School. As SSL we benefit from the vision, security and systems of an established school and we offer a huge opportunity to those who want to have a pioneering impact on the lives of our students.

Within the Senior Schools we provide native speaking Language Assistant support to our students to supplement the work of the teacher during lessons. Students are offered the opportunity to study French, German and Spanish in Year 7, opting for two of these in Years 8 and 9, alongside the compulsory Dutch lessons. Students may continue to study any combination of these to examination level at age 18.

Your skills and knowledge as a Language Assistant will be essential in ensuring we deliver the very best education for all the young people. The initial hours will be low, around 0.1 FTE (1/2 a day a week) nevertheless these roles will grow and develop over the coming years as more students enter the school.
